Two more days police custody for Nityananda

Bangalore : Sex-scam tainted Swami Nityananda will spend two more days in Karnataka Police custody, a court ruled Monday.

The court in Ramanagara, about 40 km from here, granted the request of the Crime Investigation Department (CID), which is interrogating Nityananda, for his custody for two more days.

The self-styled godman has been in police custody since April 22, a day after he was arrested in Himachal Pradesh.

He was arrested in connection with several criminal cases relating to obscenity, criminal intimidation, rape and hurting religious sentiments.

The CID told the court that it has not recorded the statement of the two women he was found with in his ashram (complex) in Bidadi, about 30 km from here.

A video clipping of Nityananda in bed with the two women was telecast on March 3 following which he was on the run. Subsequently, several criminal cases were registered against him.

The CID also told the court that it was awaiting a report from Hyderabad-based Forensic Science Laboratory on the contents in the computer hard discs seized from Nityananda's Bidadi complex.
